Yawning Along with You
Among humans, yawning is sometimes considered contagious. When we see or hear someone else yawn, we might feel the urge to yawn ourselves. This phenomenon also exists in dogs, but the underlying reasons are deeper and more emotional.
Dogs yawn when they are relaxed or comfortable, a natural physiological response. However, when they see or sense someone they are close to, whether a person or another dog, yawning, they might mimic this action. This is actually a sign of deep emotional connection and synchrony. When your dog sees you yawn and then yawns themselves, it indicates a very close relationship; they can sense your emotions and state of being and resonate with you.
So, the next time you yawn and your dog follows suit, smile at them. It’s their silent way of saying, ‘I can feel what you feel; we are soulmates in spirit.’
